Welcome to our brand new blog

In March 2011, I decided to move along with the times and begin a blog.

"Norskwood Norwegian Forest Cats" are Ali, her other half Steve (who reluctantly builds and maintains the cat garden and who does all the heavy lifting!) and our toddler son Gethin who was born in September 2010, plus an assorted cast of beautiful but delightfully dotty Norwegian Forest Cats. We're based in London, UK and devote a lot of our spare time to the breeding and showing of our Norwegians.

This is an attempt to keep a kind of diary of their exploits as and when I have a spare minute in between babies, cats and kittens' demands! Hopefully you'll enjoy it...

Anya's Angels- New Photos

Above: Black Mackerel Tabby Girl- On Hold
Above: Black Silver Blotched Tabby Girl- Reserved
Above: Red Blotched Tabby Boy- Reserved

These photos were taken when the kittens were 2 and a half weeks old. They are all very confident and very mobile for ones so young and I think they are taking their lead from their half brothers and sister. I can't wait to see what they get up to as they grow up- if they are anything like their Mother they will be very strong characters- in fact, they are already. Our Silver Tortie girl is already walking about out of the nest demanding that I pick her up for a cuddle! Both Anya and Blue Boo are very outgoing cats and they're both excellent type, so we shall see.

Please contact us if you'd like to know more.

The Trouble With Tribbles...!

Does anyone remember that classic Star Trek episode where the crew brought back cute furry little creatures to The Enterprise and they took over the ship? Well, although there are only 8 kittens in total, this lot are taking over the Nursery.

We coralled the kittens over the weekend in order to encourage Willow's babies to use the litter trays which has worked really well. But Love Bug immediately discovered how to escape and just climbed in and out at will- he has such character! They all get on well and despite the age difference the two litters are thriving.

Some are now reserved or on hold and some lovely people came round at the weekend to meet the cats and kittens. More photos will follow when time allows. We're decorating next week... that'll be fun.

Anya's Angels Make Their Debut

Well, Anya had her 3rd litter of kittens on 9th March 2011 not without difficulty. She is a lovely Mummy but not great at giving birth and this time had to have oxytocin to deliver her last baby (pictured). But the kittens are gaining piles of weight and they are being looked after Anya, Willow and Sparky- both litters of kittens kittens snuggle up together with the girls and quite often their "uncle" Hugo (our neutered housecat who adores kittens).
She has a Red Blotched Tabby boy, a Black Mackerel Tabby girl and a Silver Tortie Blotched Tabby girl that may well stay here with us if she turns out to be like her Mum. The boy's eyes are already open but the girls won't be far behind. The Silver Tortie girl is the heaviest (250g at 1 week).
It's so nice to have kittens again... Gethin and I spend a lot of time with them playing with them and cuddling them.

Gethin and Crufts!

Well, Gethin, his "Aunties" Cecilia and Debbie and I all went to the biggest dog show in the world on Friday and had a great day out. It was Gethin's first dog show (mine too) despite being a veteran of cats shows at the tender age of 6 months and having gone to a horse show too.

We saw Caroline and John Tipper and their gorgeous Rough Collie Huggy Bear and also tracked down Taito the Finnish Lapphund who Ali used to walk until he moved across the country to Bristol. It was great to catch up with his owner Emma and see how well Taito did.

It was also a chance to buy lots of grooming products for the cats- I think we get ripped off at cat shows for some things. And I wish we could get as much interest in cat shows as there is in dog shows.

Anya's Angels Have Arrived

Anya and Blue Boo are delighted to announce the birth of their first litter together on Wednesday 9th March 2011. There are 3 beautiful kittens: 1 Red Blotched Tabby male, 1 Black Mackerel Tabby male and a Silver Tortie Blotched female (reserved for her human Mummy!).

Anya is a wonderful Mum and she and Willow have joined together along with Anya's daughter Sparky to care for all the kittens together.

Watch this space to see how they grow- photos will follow when time permits!

Willow's Valentine Litter

                                                     OMG- papparazzi have found us!
Well, here they are making their debut at 3 weeks of age bless them. They're gorgeous but still as alike as peas in a pod. Hopefully they'll all develop distinct purrsonalities and I'll be able to tell them apart more easily very soon!

Blue Boo's Big Day Out!

Well, Blue Boo did us proud at the Aristocats show at Ware on Sunday 6th March 2011. He's now 18 months old and weighs about 7 kg and is just in fantastic coat. As usual, he was very chilled out sharing his pen with Roly Poly and his 8 month old son Cracker and came out to give his admiring public some lovely cuddles.

He won his 5th CACGIB, BIV (beating our Betty) and then was Nominated over 2 other wonderful NFO boys owned by our good friends John and Caroline Tipper. I wasn't too hopeful of a BIS win as he was up against a wonderful Turkish Van, but good on him, he posed like the trooper he is and won Best in Show Adult male, then beat the girl to Best in Show Adult and finally he beat his own son Monty (GB*Bjorn of Macleod) who was BIS 3-6 Month Kitten to Overall Best in Category 2.

I love Blue Boo mostly for his temperament, but I have to say that he looked fabulous yesterday. When he came home he told all the girls about his exploits via the mesh in the cat garden! Of course they were suitably impressed...
